A Field Journal

A field journal records observations, not conclusions.

Sky Notes is a field journal exploring the practice of observation.

Rather than announcing upcoming celestial events or providing monthly sky guides, it records what is actually encountered beneath the stars—through astronomy, astrophotography, overlanding, teaching, and the changing landscapes from which the night sky is observed.

Some entries document astronomical phenomena, others explore the subtle relationship between dark skies and biodiversity, the practical realities of operating an observatory, or the experience of sharing the night sky with others. Together, these notes form a continuous record of observation, connecting the night sky with the landscapes, wildlife, people, and places from which it is experienced.

This journal follows no fixed schedule. It grows whenever there is something worth recording.
